Cosmetic History - Makeup Now and Then

With the introduction of amazing new products in the cosmetics world, you will think that makeup and other beauty products are now being discovered. However, cosmetics history can be traced back to ancient times, from ancient Egypt to the right.

With that said, we can say that this cosmetics history is really rich. For starters, makeup has been used by men and women thousands of years before, and this is evidenced by archaeological discoveries of various cosmetics in Egyptian tombs dating to 3000 BC.

We all know that in the past, the Egyptians worked hard and were exposed to the heat of the desert for a long time. Therefore, to combat the scorching heat, they formulate products that are very similar to the lotions we have today, in particular, lotions that relieve dry skin and help prevent wrinkles at the same time.

Egyptian women also began using kohl to adjust their eyes. Kohl is a chemical element that contains antimony or lead sulfide. These eyeliner is commonly used by men and women as eye shadow. The most commonly used color for this is green.

Although we recognize that lead has some toxic properties, unfortunately, people in the early days had no indication that their makeup or cosmetics were slowly poisoning them. In addition, in Babylon's relics, experts have unearthed white lead that is most likely used as a base to make the face look lighter or whiter. The Greeks were also found using white lead for the purpose of enhancing their skin color.

This façade had a paler appearance until the mid-19th century. Currently, most women and some men want to have a pale face. They think that this look is a sign of nobility, especially for those who do not need to burn under the sun while cultivating the fields and eventually becoming darker in the process.

And as evidence that men go crazy over these lighter skin tones, women even go as far as to make themselves bleed just to make their faces look pale. But of course, the use of white powder and paint is still there to go with the bleeding practice.

By the early 1600's, stylish looks were not only pale in color, with the addition of red lips, pink cheeks, and brighter eyes. The color or makeup of red or brown is usually applied to the cheeks and lips as well. However, in reaching the big eye, women again use another toxic element, arsenic. They also cleanse their eyes with certain juicy juices like lemon and orange. Under exaggerated conditions, women also use hallucinogenic belladonna derived from deadly night plants. These are usually dropped to the eyes to enlarge the pupils to achieve soft-looking eyes.

Finally, after thousands of years, people have become smarter and more concerned about the things they put on their bodies and this is how they know they are actually getting poisoned little by little and the culprit is toxic in makeup or cosmetics. . As a result, over the centuries, physicians have begun to try to control cosmetics to keep users safer and to avoid getting toxic, mercury, aluminum, coal, etc., to walk in their bodies with skin or mouth as entrance. However, in the US, the Cosmetics Industry continues to fight the rules of the ingredients used in the manufacture of personal care products.

In conclusion, this is not the end of cosmetics history as it is certain that there will be more new products coming in and we all know that what happens in the 21st century. Take wrinkle fillers, non-surgical cosmetic procedures, and the creation of facial enhancers like Botox for example. All of these cosmetics, in order to beautify a person, have great followers, but are constantly filled with toxins.

With this in mind, we can say that all future products will all be directed to make us look as though 15 years have been reduced from our original age, but at what cost! It's really interesting, isn't it?
