Saanen Goat is originally from Saanen Valley in Switzerland and is common in the United States. What's so special about this goat? They offer healthy milk and great animals to raise on the farm.
Genuine goat milk produces a lot of milk. They can give two gallons of milk a day! On average, dairy goats can provide three to four liters of milk for 305 days. Goat milk is the leading source of milk worldwide. People who are allergic to cow's milk may drink it, but it contains lactose, so it's not for lactose intolerant. Goat milk has smaller fat globules than cow's milk, making it homogenous and easier to digest than cow's milk.
What are the characteristics of this goat goat? They are medium-sized and large, averaging about 145 pounds. Men stand about 40 inches tall and women about 30 inches tall. They are the largest of all dairy goats. They have strong feet with tough bones. Farmers have referred to them as "living marshmallows" because of their beautiful white or white cream color. Because of their bright skin, they are prone to sunburn or skin cancer. Some people have spots on their skin or hair. Their hair is short with some with a hairline under their spine or above their thighs. Their faces were straight, or "dished," and their ears stood straight up.
Their bodies are difficult but their temperament is mostly quiet and light. They show off their personality and want to have fun. If you are looking for a great pet, Saanen goats will not disappoint you. This goat is easy for kids to handle and is popular in show classes. They are sweet, well-liked, dairy goats. They enjoy friendships with goats and other people! A Saanen will be a wonderful goat.
They love to eat leaves of grassland, clover or other plants. They eat dried grass, cereals or something. They drink one or two gallons of water daily.
Goats are sensitive to excess heat and sunlight. They can be customized in most climates except for hot spots such as desserts or tundra. They do better in shady or cold conditions. Goats do not like to be wet so they will, in general, seek protection during the rainy season.
A barn or cage should be provided for use. Goats cannot be contained in small areas. They need plenty of space to move around, at least five square feet of space. Their pens should be well-washed, draft-free, clean, dry and closed during the winter. Air should be allowed to distribute their entire area through windows or doors.
The life expectancy of Saanen goat is about fifteen years, but some live longer with proper goat care. Raising goats can be a challenge but they can be fun and funny animals to watch.
