Well, this actually started about 8 months ago. I applied balm on my forehead during severe headache and then completely forgot. The next day there was a dark gray defect in the right corner of my forehead. Assuming it to be dry, my dead skin roughly adheres to my normal face all over my face thinking that the exfoliation will shed dry skin and the marks will heal.
But this is not the case. Instead, a few days later, a small pockets turned into a thick, dark gray patch that continued from one end of my forehead to the other. I was really zapped when I saw myself in the mirror, in the morning and so was everyone else around me. Family and friends ask all kinds of questions about it and I have no answer.
At that time I didn't realize that the sign was due to the balm I was using. Instead, I thought it was a reaction to the antibiotics I was eating at the time for a sick tooth. However, a visit to a dermatologist explains that the mark is spread on the forehead where balm has been used and this skin disorder is called hyper pigmentation. I have heard it many times from people around but now I, myself through skin pigmentation. It is a condition in which the skin produces too much pigment melanin (Melanin is responsible for the color of your skin) and it makes the skin darker than usual.
I was told that if I did not take the appropriate medication and prompt action, the mark could reach the lowest layers of skin and even the bones below the skin. And when it hits the bone, no topical medicine or any other treatment can eradicate it for the rest of my life (God forbid!). The last few words really caught my attention and scared me. My skin is sensitive and the balm used, as the doctor says can be a duplicate / fake that causes this strange reaction.
I was given the medicine (vitamins and calcium tablets) for 1 ½ months and a coagulative cream that would be used daily on pigmented skin. Using sunscreen twice a day is a must even at home because my skin has been photosynthetic (bulbs can also cause harm and delay the healing process). Complete sun protection (from both UVB and UVA rays) is important because 'excessive exposure to sunlight causes the skin to produce more melanin causing the skin to become darker'. Soft face wash is recommended as part of an ongoing treatment.
As a last resort I was given a choice either Yellow Peel treatment or Laser therapy (which is a bit expensive). Yellow Peel is a facial skin depigmentation treatment that will peel off the top layer of my damaged skin using a mixture of depigmentation agents. Then, the bottom layer of the skin will come down and I will look good again. This may take several weeks or months, depending on the case (I was told 4 weeks in my case). Both of these treatments, the doctor assured me would cure my skin condition 100 percent.
I was called every 4 weeks by a doctor because as he explained, "The skin has two layers, the upper (epidermis) and the lower (dermis). The upper layer cells gradually and the lower layers appear above, replacing the epidermis. This cycle takes about 28 days. " Therefore, a visit every 4 weeks is important to monitor the level of recovery. I keep delaying the Yellow Peel treatment every time I see her because I fear it can have side effects. So instead, the cream has changed and I have been assigned one more justice cream to use with the koj cream next month. I followed his instructions to T.
I noticed while walking on the road that people would give me weird, weird looks. I think they must be thinking, "Poor girl, she's so young and has severe skin disease". I wish I could explain what really happened to me. Some friends and advisers are also advised to apply items like raw milk and Aloe Vera gels in pigmented areas that I do with very little progress.
Then, I thought about surfing the internet in my spare time and searching a natural remedy for pigmentation which can be followed while attending doctor's care as well. I feed, 'Natural remedies for skin pigmentation' and the search engine generates a list of pages that provide information on why pigmentation occurs as well as how damage can be resolved naturally using fruits, vegetables and herbs.
I got medicines like cucumber juice, lime juice, papaya pulp, tomato juice, gram flour and water paste, coriander paste, concentrate, neem paste, full earth concentrate, sandalwood, fresh milk, endless list. All of these had to be left on the pigment patch for about 10 -15 minutes before being washed with water. I follow them, mostly trying any remedy daily. I also soak the orange peel in water and sprinkle it daily.
Since no home remedies will cause side effects, I will easily melt fruit juices and all over my face and not limit it to just a pigmented patch. Slowly it turned out to be fun because as I tried all these things one at a time I realized that my skin quality had improved. Ignoring the dark patches of my skin, my skin is now softer, softer, glowing and more beautiful. My cheeks have turned pink. It's not too heavy in my pocket because fruits and vegetables like these are always in our kitchen. For example, I would always keep a small piece of papaya or some tomato for soaking and applying it on my skin as soon as I do homework. In fact, when a friend asked me why the light on my face was because I leaned on love and it felt so good.
The last cream I prescribed was Triglow and a skin doctor said it was the most effective cream in the world to cure pigmentation. It's useful. I noticed a drastic movement in pigmentation after using it for several days. But the whole point is that I want it to heal completely so I see myself again normal which will take some time. Repeated trips to my doctor are making me nervous now and I decided to stop visiting him and continue his last prescription and natural remedies until the pigmentation heals.
The small, fuzzy patch was still on my forehead but it was decreasing at a slower pace. One thing I realized when I was having this hard time was that nothing was better than our old natural remedies, for our problems. Of course, major illnesses require immediate and long-term medication, under the guidance of a doctor. That's how I got started, too. But if we take a deeper interest in natural remedies and natural herbs we can lead a better, healthier and more rewarding life. The only issue is time; we are all short on time and we do not have the patience to wait for our problems to be resolved this way, at a slower pace.
