What is the Difference Between Age Spots and Melasma?

Hyperpigmentation in dermatology means darkening the area or areas of the skin. This is due to increased melanin levels. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by a variety of things. In this article we will look at the differences between dark spots, browns, age and Melasma. Dark spots, browns and age are due to increased levels of melanin in the skin area. Skin problems usually arise from exposure to the sun over a long period of time. If you look like the sunset and do it recklessly in your 20s without using the sun block, you might be facing this problem in the late 30s and early 40s.

Age, black and brown spots are the same and they usually appear where you have exposed your skin to the sun: face, neck, shoulders, hands and arms. This hyperpigmentation problem is harmless (remember that too much sun can also cause skin cancer). However, these imperfections affect your appearance and therefore your self-esteem. This is why many are trying to find a cure to get rid of it.

Some treatments for age, black and brown spots are microdermabrasion, dermabrasion and skin bleaching cream. It is always recommended to talk to your dermatologist before you begin this treatment as it may have some unwanted side effects. If you want to use cream, use something that contains Rumex (natural melanin inhibitor) extract, not hydroquinone (chemical skin whitening). Chemical variants can cause minor side effects that can cause problems. Natural skin creams that regulate melanin production are safe and effective.

Melasma is also a type of hyperpigmentation problem. It is also caused by an increase in melanin production, but it is not due to exposure to the sun: it causes hormone changes. This is why melasma appears during pregnancy. Melasma is harmless, but can only be like age spots, affecting one's self-esteem. Treatment for melasma is similar to age spots. You need something to prevent and control melanin production. As this is a problem that occurs during pregnancy, abusive treatment is not recommended. Natural skin creams containing Rumex extract are the best way to treat melasma without causing any problems to your baby.
