Vitamin K and B-3 Beneficial to Skin

Vitamin K and Vitamin B-3, also known as niacin, have long been known to have skin-related health benefits, but recent studies show that both vitamins have dermatological applications.

"Vitamins are constantly being rearranged as an important role to play in body health," said Dr. David Smith, chief researcher at the SkinWhite Research Lab. & # 39; New studies show that Vitamin K and niacin are beneficial for the skin, especially for problems involving pigmentation and dry skin. "

Vitamin K plays an important role in blood clotting, and studies have shown it to maintain strong bones in the elderly. However, dermatologists have recently found Vitamin K to successfully treat dark circles under the eyes and bruises on the face.

One recent study included two groups, one using a sun cream containing sunscreen and another using a sun cream containing a combination of Vitamin K and retinol. The color examination was under eye at the beginning of the study and eventually found significant light in the group using a combination of vitamin K and retinol.

Vitamin K has also been recently studied for its effects to reduce bruising following certain dermatological procedures. Patients who used Vitamin K after the procedure found a significant reduction in bruising.

One derivative of niacin, nicotinamide, has been shown to enhance the ability of the epidermis to retain moisture. In a recent study, topical nicotinamide has been used for skin for six days. According to the study, all patients reported softer, smoother skin, less dryness and smoothing, and lessening of the lines.

"Benefits to the skin after the use of nicotinamide can be used for patients with atopic dermatitis, who often experience dry, irritated skin when the disease is on," says Dr. Smith. "This can be a more promising treatment for skin aging, which is often as dry and sweaty as we age."

Niacinamide, another derivative, has also been shown to be an effective skin lightening agent, especially for skin conditions where hyperpigmentation may occur on the face or other visible parts of the body. Patients with hyperpigmentation are analyzed by computer and most patients experience decreased hyperpigmentation and increased skin excitement.

Topical niacinamide has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, making it a potential treatment for acne, rosacea and any type of blistering disease. Recent studies also indicate that niacin and its derivatives have chemopreventative effects. When applied to mouse skin, topical nicotinamide results in a 70 percent reduction in skin cancer caused by ultra violet.
