Understand the Relationship Between Melanin and Hair Loss

Melanin is a pigment that gives natural hair color. Hair color is under genetic control. Genes and hormones regulate the action of melanocytes. Melanocytes are located at the base of the hair follicle where new hair growth begins during the anagen (growth phase) of the hair cycle. Melanin is only produced during the anagen phase and is turned off in the catagen and telogen phases (degradation and rest phase respectively). With age, melanocyte activity begins to decline and hair tends to grow gray and white as a sign of the absence of dye by melanin.

There are several factors that can affect melanin production and also cause hair loss. There is a link between melanin and hair loss. There are several vitamins, especially b-vitamins, that are involved in melanin synthesis and maintain proper hair follicle function. If this vitamin is depleted, hair starts to get gray and thin quickly. This will also cause the hair to break out of the anagen phase faster than usual, forcing it to enter the rest and shedding phase.

There are many products that can be used to increase the production of melanin by hair follicles. One such product is crush. These products increase the life span of melanocytes and therefore slow down the gray hair.

Some people tend to brush their hair when they see it start to gray or break out. The colors they use are chemical based. Some dyes can irritate the skin causing a scratch and also damage the hair follicles. This accelerates hair loss and causes baldness.

Because the loss of melanin in the hair is natural, it is also ideal for treating the condition naturally. There are many natural remedies that can be used to treat gray and lose hair. There are several herbal remedies that can be used to slow down hair aging. Herbal medicine increases blood flow to the scalp, ensuring that the hair follicles are supplied with adequate oxygen and nutrients. When the hair follicles are supplied with sufficient oxygen and nutrients, the melanocyte activity will continue for longer, thus slowing the onset of gray hair.

Melanin hair loss is also associated with the stress often associated with hair loss. Therefore, another way to treat melanin is to relieve stress. Stress can be controlled by pushing the body to rest. There are things like skincare. The scalp helps to relax the mind and promotes free circulation around the scalp. When the blood flows freely through the scalp, the hair follicles are easily supplied with the nutrients and oxygen needed in the cellular function of hair follicle maintenance and melanocytes. This will ensure that melanin continues to produce while the hair retains its color. It is also wise to monitor the food we eat, as it may contribute to our melanin and hair problems.
