Skin Lightening Treatment - 5 Simple Steps to Building a Skin Lightening Regimen

Whether you have hyperpigmentation in the form of acne scars, melasma or age spots, you want to even your skin tone or you want to lighten it with some color, having a consistent skin whitening regimen is important if you want to see results. This article will help you find the products you need to build your own skin whitening regimen. Perfect skin, here we come!

Daily wash

Consider replacing regular soaps with skin whitening soap. Soaps containing kojic acid and glutathione not only help to cleanse the skin but also contain natural digestive and skin care products that will help speed up your results when used with a light cream.

Soap can dry out some people's skin so if you usually wash your face, look for ingredients like salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a hydroxy alpha acid that helps eliminate dead skin. Removing dead skin will allow for healthier skin under the light and allows any topical product you use to absorb better.

Peel

Remove dead skin by rubbing it at least twice a week. Topical creams will not do what they should do if they just sit on dead skin.

Moisturizing

Ideally, you will apply a radiant skin moisturizer after washing / cleansing your skin. Meladerm and Makari both have a great moisturizer as part of their product line. Some skin lightening creams, especially those containing hydroquinone can dry out your skin but if you choose a moisturizing skin moisturizing product, it can replace your regular moisturizer without leaving you feeling dry.

Primary Skin Whitening Products

Whether you go with creams, gels or pills entirely to personal preference. Whatever product you choose, make sure it contains only safe ingredients and make sure you use them as directed. I have highlighted the dangers of hydroquinone in previous posts and you should try to avoid hydroquinone based products especially if you have African American skin.

Sun screen

It is a common misconception that black people do not need to use sunscreen. When using whitening products, it is more important to use sunscreen as these ingredients make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I recommend using a sunscreen with at least SPF 25 on your face and body. This not only protects your skin from harmful ultraviolet radiation but also ensures that your skin whitening regimen produces the results you want.

Step Options

Another great option for your lightweight products is the usual chemicals. If you have severe hyperpigmentation, the chemical skin can accelerate the rate at which the dead skin is removed to expose the skin beneath and help brighten the process. Discuss whether the skin is the right fit for you with your dermatologist.

By following these steps to stimulate your skin regimen, you will ensure that you see consistent results and that you will run smoothly with flawless skin.
