Gone are the days when manufacturers and business owners could pay for their product abandonment and still make good profits. At that time, shoppers really didn't have much of a choice so everyone bought the same product practically. Today, no matter what your product or service is, there is a long list of brands available to sell. So the next question is "How do you stand out and make people see you?" The process of increasing sales is a trial and error process. I heard you say, "Yes, I know it's important to test my product". The trial and error process doesn't end there. You also need to test the Unique Selling Proposal (USP) of your product or service.
What is a USP? This is what separates your offer from other existing brands. What makes your product better? Why should people buy it instead of brand X? I know you're interested in saying, "It's cheaper" or "It works faster than the X brand," but those who sell points aren't strong and "unique" enough.
Think about it, if you were advertising your product as the "fastest working skin cream," would you really be the first to make such a claim?

Creating Unique Sales Proposals takes time, and I'm sure it'll put your business communication skills to the test. So here are some tips:
· Learn about your competition. Learn what they offer, how they operate, how they do business with customers. Try to find weaknesses that you can take advantage of, or good practices that you can duplicate. You need to do your homework diligently; visit their location, subscribe to their newsletter, and make purchases. Knowing what competition is like will give you a better position to gain USP attention. Learning how your competition works will also improve your business communication skills.
· After researching other products and services, the next task is to put all of this information together and put it to good use. Compare your website to them and see where you can improve, analyze how their customer service is done, and see if you can provide better service. How fast are their services? How knowledgeable are their sales people? How good is their business communication skills? Are their products defective? Use the information you've collected to improve the way you offer products and services.
· The strategy is quiet. Keep a low profile while you work on building your team, products and services. The worst thing that can happen is for your competitors to start a strategy against you even before you put things together. So try to keep it low, and find only loyal followers; as you explode, you'll find loyal customers who will stick with you no matter what.
· Early competition by creating a point of sale that has never been heard before. Have you ever noticed how ads for skin care products have never heard of scientific benefits before? Take Dove soap, their USP is ¼ moisturizing cream in their products, while the Olay Total effect claims 7 anti-aging benefits in one bottle.
Notice how these successful brands have created their own niche, from going for the usual cliché benefits such as "preventing acne", "moisturizing the skin", "minimizing pores". Yes, the obvious benefit of Dove and Olay is that it's practically a version of the above-mentioned cliche benefits, but it works because no other brand offers such a thing! No other soap can claim to have ¼ of moisturizing cream since Dove has already asserted its claim! If you can present your product in such a way that it meets certain requirements or resolves specific issues that other competitors have not addressed, then I am sure you will have no problem finding a paying customer.
The way you communicate your brand to your market goes a long way. You need to make sure they understand what you have to offer and give them a good reason to choose you over others. Your business communication skills will affect the success of your brand and how your target market responds to you.
