Bovine Collagen - Leading Medical and Industrial Applications

Collagen is a natural ingredient found in bones, muscles, tendons and skin, and provides structural support to the body. As the main protein of connective tissue and the most abundant protein in mammals, it has great tensile strength. It is naturally found exclusively in metazoa, including sponges, which act as a major component of endomysium in muscle tissue, which comprises one to two percent of all muscle tissue.

Due to its high tensile strength, its properties allow the skin to gain strength and elasticity. As the ages catch up with all of us and collagen depletion is compromised, wrinkles begin to appear. Other important functions of the body include its ability to regulate blood vessels, playing a key role in tissue development. Not only is cow collagen important for the development and growth of all mammals, its unique properties and qualities make it an attractive and important component in many medical and industrial applications.

Cow collagen has a long history of medical use, which allows breakthrough medical procedures to provide healing and relief to those who may have limited options. Collagen has been widely used in cosmetic surgeries, in beautifying procedures and in the reconstruction of vital bone and skin as a result of burns and other unfortunate accidents. Various orthopedic and surgical procedures, together with the dental function, have used material tendencies to produce better results for patients and the medical profession alike. Collagen is also commercially sold in addition to shared mobility and has recently become a common ingredient for some cosmetics.

Advances in cosmetic surgery have been facilitated by the use of collagen. People often find the prospect of surgery somewhat daunting, with many being discouraged from undergoing the procedure. Breakthrough applications that allow patients to undergo cosmetic surgery and surgery without the need for a painful and time-consuming traditional procedure are called dermal fillers, where collagen is simply injected and filled into the area under the skin.

In relation to industrial applications, cow collagen has a long history of use. As partially hydrolyzed, collagen produces gelatine, which has been widely used as an ingredient in many food products. Gelatine has also been used in many pharmaceutical, cosmetic and photography applications. Additionally, collagen is a historical source of glue, which is obtained by the process of boiling the skin and sinew. Over 4000 years ago, the Egyptians used it as a sticker and the bow of the American people was known for its strong construction because of the use of the adhesive. Dating back 8000 years, collagen-based glue was used as a protective coating on fabric and embroidery. This adhesive is still widely used in modern society, often found in the production of musical instruments.
