Dark skin, or hyperpigmentation, is a common problem. It is usually harmless and is caused by the excess production of melanin, the pigment responsible for producing color in the eyes, hair and skin. Hyperpigmentation can be treated with a prescription cream containing bleach to fade the dark spots of the skin. Laser treatment is also available, though it may not work in all cases (in fact, in some cases laser treatment can make things worse).

For best results, use an alligator tongue to moisturize the skin twice daily for at least 14 days.
